If you are short that means you probably don't have incredibly long arms or legs. It's nothing to be ashamed of, it's just a fact of life. I have been on both sides of the drive through window, and for a short person they aren't ideal. If people park far away from the window, the task of handing out food and change should be an Olympic sport.
I worked in a fast food restaurant for four years, and the drive through was always the most difficult part. The job itself isn't hard in nature, but when you are short, and basically have to lean your whole body out the window to reach the customer, it gets a little old. There's also the fact that it's almost impossible to hear people, because they are either speaking too softly, or their car or gigantic truck is drowning out their voice. After the attempt at ordering the party drives up, and never manages to park close, so getting their food out to them becomes difficult. I even jumped out the window a couple of times to accomplish the task, but my manager said that was unprofessional, so I went back to leaning my whole body out the window.
I went to Cutler's the other day, and since we had my Grandma's dog in the car, we had to use the drive through. The drive through isn't bad, but I don't like using it, because I used to work the drive through, so I usually prefer to go inside, but there was no way I was taking the dog inside, so we used the drive through. The guy at the drive through was vertically impaired like me, and we were able to laugh about not being able to reach the car or the window. I had to pull my Grandma's car as close to the window as possible, so we could reach.
The drive through isn't the complete end of the world, but parking a little closer to the actual window will make a huge difference for the vertically impaired person working the drive through. Even the tall people will appreciate you parking closer, because they won't have to lean half way out the window to give you your meal. Just remember short people don't have elastic arms. They won't magically stretch, so don't try to make them stretch farther than they have to.
