Okay, it's been awhile since I last posted, but that's what happens when you start a graduate program and take a full class load. Anyway, I thought it would be good to discuss the way that heels make a major difference in the way you feel, and view the world as well.
I first noticed it a little while ago when I was wearing my high heeled boots a lot, because of all of the snow. I typically wear a lot of flats, so wearing something with high heels was a little different to say the least. I wore them every day for weeks, until the snow melted, and that's when I saw the biggest difference.
I work in an office, and we have some high filing cabinets. When I wore my heels, I could see the labels on the folders, and I didn't have to try very hard to do so. I didn't think anything of it, until I wore flats instead of heels. I was at least three inches shorter, and I had to stand on my toes to see the labels. I felt like everyone had gotten taller all of a sudden, and my legs once again dangled off the chair.
I felt a little more vulnerable, because I noticed a difference in my height. When I wore my heels, I felt like nothing could stop me, but when I was back in my flats, I felt like a mouse scrambling around trying not to get stepped on. I have never felt too tall in any heels, and I was never taller than any boy that I have ever dated.
When I first put my heels on, I feel a little odd, because I can see the world from a completely different angle. I definitely feel more confident, because I am closer to eye level with the people that I am talking to, which is a lot better than looking at their chest or neck.
If you haven't ever worn heels, it's worth a shot to see if you notice a difference. Don't get me wrong, I have accepted the fact that I am short, and that I will never be tall, but wearing heels sometimes can be really fun. It's not a bad thing to want to be as tall as everyone else. Even Tony Stark does it.
I mean look at those lifts. In reality he is only a couple of inches shorter than his co-stars in the Avengers movies, but he wears the heels to match their height better, and I didn't even notice the heels until I saw it on Pinterest.
The point is, being short won't magically change over night, but wearing heels can help you to be just a little taller, and make everyone else think you are just as tall as they are.
